In this meetup, Jenny Stoffel will be discussing website animation tools for WordPress.

Many people would like animations on their websites, but are unsure how to get there without a great deal of time and expense. If you’re a developer, lack of design experience can be a barrier, and lack of coding knowledge can stymie a designer. A decade ago, one might have spent hour upon hour on Photoshop or GIMP building layers for html image mapping, all of which had to be redone when a change needed to be made. Today, we still marvel at the difference engaging, effective animations can make on a site, but there are tools to make getting marvelous animations possible for anyone. This talk will look at tools and pathways which might inspire you to include more accessible animations in your website build.

This talk will cover:

• When to use animations, accessibility concerns
• Tools to help achieve sophisticated, interactive animation effects for those without coding knowledge
• Beyond the basics: hand-coding animations, file overview and where to find inspiration and resources for hand-coding animations

This talk will interest developers who are looking for more ways to easily incorporate complex visual elements into their builds, graphic designers who are interested in ways their designs might be brought to life on a website, and users who want to achieve more sophisticated effects on their sites without in-depth coding knowledge.

• 6:00 – 6:15: Introductions. What you do, are you looking to hire, are you looking for work?
• 6:15 – 6:45: Speaker and topic.
• 6:45 – 7:00: Questions and answers on the topic.
• 7:00 – 8:00: Get help with WordPress. Bring your laptop for this part. There’s a wide range of experience levels, and we’re all here to help each other.
• 8:00: Soft close. You may hang out a bit longer to talk or finish up a project, but the official Meetup will end.
• 8:30: Socialize at Bailey’s Taproom (213 SW Broadway). Let us know if you’re interested in joining!
